One of the most iconic clown characters. I approached the character and the background with two different visual styles, creating a stronger contrast between them. This helps bring the character forward, strengthens the focal point, and gives the entire piece a clearer sense of theme and atmosphere.

For the cover-up addition, the purple flower at the bottom is a custom hand-drawn design. We also need to cover some of the messy background, so I used leaves and purple tones to help with the cover-up. Purple also works well with the current overall color palette, which helps everything blend together more naturally and keeps the final piece from looking unbalanced or disconnected.

Cover-up work is one of the most complex and challenging parts of tattooing. The new design not only needs to fully cover the existing tattoo, but it also has to maintain the quality and overall effect of the new piece.
The first layer of color is now mostly complete. Because the cover-up area is quite large and contains a lot of detail, I used a significant amount of white to help bring out the texture, depth, and contrast of the new tattoo.
Once it is fully healed, we will still need to make some adjustments and continue refining certain areas to achieve the best possible final result.
To be continued…

I really like this kind of approach, especially the strong contrast between the larger areas of color. With this technique, even years after the tattoo has healed, it can still maintain a fresh and clear appearance because the design relies on strong differences and contrast between the colors.
Right after the tattoo is finished, the overall piece may look a little heavy or dark, but once it fully heals, the contrast between the different tones and colors will become much more noticeable and balanced.
The inner area is fully healed, while the rest of the piece is still in the healing process. The whole tattoo is not finished yet—we still need to add some background elements to connect everything together.
Really looking forward to seeing the final result once the whole piece is completed.

Blending the wings into the tattoo, and then making the tattoo flow naturally with the body—that’s what tattooing means to me.
After a long process of discussing, revising, and refining the design over and over again, we finally arrived at the final piece. Every tattoo I create will stay with my client for a lifetime, so I never want them to look back with any regrets.
In the end, seeing my client smile and truly love the finished piece is the greatest motivation for me.
